My last post for about 2 weeks - See ya!

I won't have much time to post over the next couple of weeks, so I'm sorry. Today is Sunday, my computer moves 2 days before I actually do, so I won't really have access until the weekend. My parents are coming to town to help us move, and to help get the old place in saleable (is that a word?) condition, so I'll be on the go until past Memorial day. But, to quote the Terminator, I'll be back.....

So want to see my kitchen & dining room?

Before dining room. The only one I have with the freakish wallpaper intact, i.e. moments before Bill discovered his new skill as "ugly wallpaper-stipper guy." This was minutes after we walked in, and it took me several days to get my new camera functioning properly.

After Bill had his way with the wallpaper.

Looking into the old kitchen and sun porch. The closet in the right side of the picture was cut in half to allow better manuvering (sp?) and access to the basement door and stairs.

New dining room. I wanted to keep the existing built-in cabinet, but also wanted a buffet, and figured I'd have a hard time trying to come up with a dining room set that complemented the cabinetry. I solved my dilema by adding in a built-in buffet to match the kitchen cabinets. I have a certain type table in mind once I sell my other house. The lamp looks funky as it is actually designed to be swagged over the table, but since I don't yet have it, and have no clue where I'm going to put it, the extra chain is just pinned up in the light fixture.

Old kitchen, with it's own treasuretrove of ugly wallpaper. It was a bit cramped and dark since the only light sources come from a door and window to the sunporch. This was looking in from the sunporch door.

Looking into the kitchen from the dining room. Not only did we say good-bye to the wallpaper, the pantry also bit the dust. Good riddance!
New. Lots more cabinet space despite the loss of the wall between rooms!

This is why I said good riddance to the pantry. Please ignore the Beverly Hillbilly/Mr. Ed split door, we didn't have it painted as we have a new one on order.

The granite that is causing me decorating grief. Everything in our existing house is green. I assumed I'd get some green granite for the kitchen, and all my existing stuff would work. Of course, we find the perfect slabs in beige/taupe/gray/blue. Yes, gray & blue, hence the gray/blue glass behind the stove and gray paint. Now I have to get new dishes, etc. My HUGE dilema is what to do with my Kitchen Aid mixer in pistaccio green. Keep it and hide it? Or, sell it and buy one in a shade of blue? Hmmmm. Methinks a new poll.

WOW! You wouldn't even know it was the same house. Maybe the pistaschio will look better than you think.

That looks great!

I think that door is pretty cool, actually. I've never actually seen one in real life...well, I guess I still haven't, but you know what I mean...
