Random bits of nothing and nonsense...

So why am I typing this? To try to avoid what I should be doing - windows. Bill & I are off work this week trying to get our old house in order so we can get it listed next week. I'm trying to be positive, but I don't think it's going to happen, especially when I find I need to take a break after only a couple of hours. ZZZZZZZ. After I finish the windows and blinds, then I get to wash all the doors with Murphy's Oil. More fun and excitement. I think it will be especially fun to try to get off all the dog nose prints. The minute they see a closed door, both of them have a habit of nosing the doors open.

I'm getting really nervous about getting this place on the market, but I don't know how we are going to be able to show it while we are still living here. All the shows I watch indicate the house should be pristine and visually appealing. Pristine? That ain't gonna happen with a 14 month old baby and two 70 lb. dogs, one of which is molting. Visually appealing? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. 90% of my furniture is hand-me-down, and is going out in the trash when we leave. Our bedroom set is the one my parents bought me 28 years ago, and it's falling apart. I'm actually hoping to empty a couple of drawers, and then permanently glue them shut because the tracks are broken, and they sit crooked. We never bought a new set because the bedroom is so small that nothing we liked would fit, and I'm loath to spend money on something that 's not exactly what I want. I have no skill with decorating. My decorating style is something I call "beige". 'Nuff said about being visually appealing. (Mom, want to volunteer to help me with the new place?)

I'm having a garage sale this weekend. I'm hoping it's not too late in the year to do this, but I need to get rid of some junk, and I don't want to lug it to the other house. Wish me luck! That's what I'll being doing after washing the doors. Lugging stuff to the garage. Thankfully, it's not 90 degrees today. Bill will be taking SUV loads of stuff to the new house to get it out of the way.

On the new house front, the new windows and furnace are in. The furnace guy took out the old one and found 5 substantial cracks in the heat exchanger. He said we would have gotten very sick if we had used it. I'm thankful we never tried. We finalize the kitchen cabinet color/style tomorrow, and get those ordered. All the wallpaper and paper has been removed from John's bedroom, and next time I go, I'll TSP the walls, ceiling, and floor, and get ready to paint. We're still working on the rest of the paper in the halls and dining room. I hate wallpaper! All of the downstairs and basement closets have been washed out, and are ready to start storing things, I just need to get some visqueen and tape off the louvered doors so that the construction dust dosen't get in.

Has anyone used that metallic paint, or the stuff that looks like leather? I'm thinking about doing part of John's room with that, but I've never actually seen it.

Okay - I've killed enough time, back to the windows. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
